We encourage you to think about your drinking habits this April during Alcohol Awareness Month. Mercedes Kent, Program Director at Gateway Foundation, joined ABC NewsChannel 20’s Addicted Illinois segment to share information on the leading cause of substance use deaths – alcohol. “It’s more commonplace because its legal,” says Kent, “We use it socialize, comfort, cope. However, it is the leading preventable disease.” Ask yourself – is alcohol causing problems at home? At work? Is drinking becoming a coping mechanism rather than something you use to celebrate? If so, you can reach out to Gateway Foundation for help. Contact us at 844-537-9479. Withdrawal Management involves both physical and psychological symptoms, which need ongoing attention. Often, the physical withdrawal symptoms are the first to disappear, however psychological symptoms can stick around for far longer. Having access to medical support and treatment during recovery can make it easier to stay healthy and on track toward lifelong sobriety. . . . . . #GatewayFoundation #substanceuse #treatment #rehabilitation #treatmentcenters #soberliving #outpatienttreatment #treatmentinillinois #treatmentfacililty

April is Alcohol Awareness Month. To spread awareness about alcohol use disorder, Gateway Foundation’s Community Division President Marc Turner discussed this public health issue on WGN-TV. In this news segment, Turner addresses the long-term effects of binge drinking and alcohol use disorder, as well as different treatment options. “Alcohol - like other drugs - the more that you use it, the less effect you get,” says Turner. “So in order to get the effect, you have to consume more, and then obviously that has a lot of health implications for people.” Watch the full segment here: https://hubs.la/Q02sH4Bz0 If you or someone you love is experiencing alcohol addiction, don’t hesitate to reach out for life-changing help at GatewayFoundation.org or by calling 877-505-HOPE(4673). #GatewayFoundation #RecoveryForAll #AddictionTherapy #NCADD #AlcoholAwarenessMonth #NCADDAlcoholAwarenessMonth
