We were fortunate enough to sit at, what some may consider the sushi counter, I'd call it, the chef's table. We saw how all the magic happens in this open kitchen dining experience and it was AMAZING! There is a sushi side and a grill side. We sat on the grill side. It was like we got dinner AND a show. From the jump, Matt recommended eats from each category, including cocktails. Everything sounded so good we opted for the decadent Omakase. I really couldn't tell you what exactly we ate with each course (the pictures should help) but I can tell you EVERYTHING WAS DELICIOUS!! We had raw fish, cooked wagyu and everything in between. Roka Akor seems to have a very KISS (keep it simple, stupid) mentality so everything is not over complicated, made with fresh ingredients and cooked to absolute perfection.

When dining out there is "always something" good bad or indifferent. For Roka Akor it's the fact that there is too much that is too good. They make it really hard to decide. That's why I'd recommend the Omakase, it's a little taste of heaven from each category on the menu.

Sunday lunch 12:00. Let's just say I don't like to wait to eat and I don't want to plan ahead. Walked in, sat and ordered quickly.

I got the lunch special. Miso soup, salad, and cod. $24.

I loved the enoki ( I think) mushrooms in the soup. Nice touch. The ginger salad was light and mixed greens. Not the plain iceberg. Just. Little different.

The cod: loved the miso sauce in the side with black sesame seeds and a bowl of rice.

As for the wagu dumplings and wagu maki: our son gobbled them up and said it was so far his favorite
      Ali he has ever had.

If you are looking for large amounts of food, order more. The lunch portion is smaller. I walked out satisfied and wanted a

Love the decor and the bathrooms are clean. Friendly service. Happy we tried at lunchtime.

I cannot praise this place enough! From the moment we walked in, everything exceeded our expectations - the food, service, and ambiance were simply unmatched.

Our server was outstanding, with the perfect balance between professionalism and friendliness. Their recommendations were spot-on, and their attentiveness enhanced our dining experience.

We had a variety of dishes, and I must say, there wasn't a single miss. While everything was superb, two dishes stood out for me. The tuna belly nigiri was incredible, bursting with flavor and freshness. Additionally, the pork belly was buttery and tender, it practically melted in my mouth.

I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an exceptional dining experience.

So, I'll get this out of the way I've been here a few times. I've done the decadent omakase as I am an avid fan of fine dining. Omakase/tastings in general no matter where you are, are not meant to be like huge American size portions. It seems like your average American male doesn't know that. Therefore, you are not meant to take home leftovers that are enough for another meal. If you are salty about that then I suggest going to your nearest fast food joint to load up. The decadent omakase from RA was alright about a 3.5/5.

I'll go over the regular menu that we ordered from for a birthday celebration. Service was mid, they could have been a little more attentive. For some of the entrees I wished there was more on the plate and don't expect sides like you're getting a happy meal.

      -hamachi serrano chili 4/5
-crispy squid 5/5 - tasty sauce
      -assorted tempura vegetables 5/5
      -Korean spiced lamb cutlets 5/5
      -glazed pork ribs 5/5
-snake river farms American wagyu sirloin 5/5
      -ube pot de creme 5/5
      -green tea custard 5/5

It's a true 5 star experience overall as I was a business guest. The service and food were all excellent. But frankly some places should just avoid providing patio outside sitting when it seems forced, small, right next to a large mall parking lot, no shrubs or greenery, no water features, etc. just tight and unpleasant to me.

But again the black cod fish was flaky and tasty and the sushi dishes were top notch. Oh, the prices are way up there. But again I was a guest !!! If I want to pay those prices I also expect a better seating arrangements.

Service and ambiance is top tier, but the food was MID. For the price and overall fancy reputation Roka Akor naturally gives off, the food was such an underwhelming experience.

The crispy rice tuna tartare was heavily crispy on the outside, but the inside was just mushy. The signature sushi rolls we ordered lacked flavor, and they def skimped out on the fillings (prawn & lobster). If anything, the best tasting and worthy dish imo were the wagyu beef and kimchi dumplings.

On the brighter side of the experience, they do give a small complimentary ice cream if you're celebrating a birthday. Our server was preppy and made our dining experience enjoyable, but the food was honestly nothing special or great.

I was blown away from the moment I walked in the door. The decor was sexy, the hostess was welcoming, our waiter was entertaining, and the drinks packed, and the food was absolutely delicious!!!!

This might be our favorite local place! We're torn between Roka akor and Lucca osteria! Every time we go, the food and service is FANTASTIC.

We were shopping for something at Oak Brook Mall and decided to give Roka Akor a shot. Thankfully it wasn't too busy on a Sunday evening. The interior is very nice, albeit a bit darker than I like. Service was good, as you'd expect at any higher end restaurant. I went in thinking it was primarily a sushi place, but it's a mix of surf and turf.

We ordered tuna tataki, roasted beet salad, a hamachi serrano chili roll, and kanpachi sashimi. All of the items were excellent. Everything tasted fresh. It didn't feel like there were any fillers, like too much rice, and not a ton of sauce that might cover up not-so-fresh fish. The tuna tataki and the sashimi were both high quality and practically melt in your mouth; fresh and tasty. The hamachi maki roll was also good; not too much rice and not too much sauce, so you could taste the other ingredients. I'm not really a salad person, but the salad was also fresh and tasty; the whipped tofu was a really interesting touch, and the hazelnuts added a nice crunch.

Overall, a very nice meal. It was also very expensive, though. Not somewhere I'd go often. Still, I'm glad I was able to treat my wife to a fancy dinner.
