Date: 10/13/2009 Time: 6:30 PM TO 7:30 PM Woodridge Park District 2600 Center Drive Woodridge, IL 60517 Phone: 630.932.1141 Event Description: Relay For Life 2010 Planning Begins The American Cancer Society Relay For Life brings communities and businesses together to celebrate cancer survivors, remember those lost to cancer and to fight back against cancer. Teams of 10-15 friends, relatives or coworkers raise funds for cancer education, prevention, services to cancer patients and cancer research for all types of cancer. Ninety-one cents out of each dollar goes toward creating a world with more birthdays by helping people stay well, get well, find cures and fight back. The community festival setting features inspirational speakers and moving ceremonies along with music, entertainment, food and activities. With companies cutting expenses, Relay For Life can be a fun alternative to the company picnic. Families forgoing their annual vacation can come to Relay For Life for fun close to home. Relay For Life is good fun for a good cause. A special invitation goes out to cancer survivors, who are the heart of Relay. Survivors receive a T-shirt, a dinner reception and the cheers of all participants as they walk the first lap around the track. The American Cancer Society is a volunteer organization, so we are looking anyone with any amount of time to help plan successful events. There will be twenty Relay For Life events in DuPage County including the Relay For Life of WoodGrove (Downers Grove, Woodridge and Darien) on June 12-13, 2010 at Downers Grove North High School.
