The
Downers Grove Area Chamber of Commerce and Industry and its Legislative
Committee are hosting a Candidates’ Forum on Wednesday, March 16 from 7:00
– 9:00 pm at Village Council Chambers (801 Burlington), for the
three Village Council seats that will be voted on in the April 5, 2005 election.
All five candidates: incumbents Marilyn Schnell and Martin Tully; Elena
Falco, Barry Peckhart, and William Waldack will participate in the forum.

Randall, Marriott Suites, Chair of the Legislative Committee explains, “The
Chamber chooses to hold the Candidates’ Forum to educate both the business and
residential communities.”
As the business advocate, we encourage our members and community to make
informed decision about the elected officials who will influence the business
progress of Downers Grove.
The Chamber is a non-political organization, and will not endorse any
candidate.
Each
candidate will elaborate on questions prepared by the Chamber’s Legislative
Committee, and those submitted by audience members during the evening.
The Chamber feels it is necessary for all members of the community to be
aware of the candidates’ positions, and their ideas for the future of Downers
Grove.
The public is welcome to attend; questions are not limited to pertaining
to the local business environment.
Candidates
for the school board and Park District elections are welcome to attend, but will
not be a part of the formal forum.
The
Village of Downers Grove will tape the forum, to be broadcast.
