Event Description: The next monthly meeting of the DuPage Woodworkers will take place on Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010 at 7PM. at St. James the Apostle Church, 480 S. Park Blvd., Glen Ellyn, IL. (Park Blvd. and Fawell Blvd. (22nd street)). The entrance is off the parking lot on the North side of the Church. Meetings are held the fourth Wednesday of each month. Rich Rossio, a founding member of the DuPage Woodworkers, will present a program detailing how he makes a multi-axis bottle stopper using a 4 jaw scroll chuck and only three turning tools; a 3/8 spindle gouge, a roughing gouge and a skew. The bottle stopper is usually 6-7” tall and has many off-center beads at different tangents to the actual center of the turning (difficult to explain, delightful to see!). This process can also be used to make multi-axis fly houses and finials for hollow ornaments. Rich will demonstrate as many examples of this process as time permits. Thanks to Rich for continuing to experiment with the potential of the wood lathe and for sharing what he learns with our club members. All skill levels from novice to advanced, in all areas of woodworking are represented in the club. Our club motto is "learning by sharing”. Come and join us, see what we are about and enjoy a cup of free hot coffee. For further information, call Bill Hochmuth, Publicity Chairman, at 630-858-4727 or visit our web site: www.dupagewoodworkers.org
