Event Description: News Release: DuPage Woodworkers Meeting “This notice would be appropriate for all of DuPage County and Cook County” Contact Person: Bill Hochmuth 2s725 Parkview Drive, Glen Ellyn IL 60137 630-585-4727 wfhochmuth@comcast.net The next monthly meeting of the DuPage Woodworkers will take place on Wednesday, September 22th at 7PM at St. James the Apostle Church, 480 S. Park Blvd., Glen Ellyn, IL. (Park Blvd. and Fawell Blvd. (22nd street)). The entrance is off the parking lot on the North side of the Church. Regular meetings are held the fourth Wednesday of each month. Andy Frampton, whose artistic interests have ranged across pencil sketching, sand sculpting, clay sculpting, and currently chainsaw carving, will give a demonstration to the DuPage Woodworkers. Professionally, Andy is a food scientist with degrees from Colorado State University and the University of Illinois. His first chainsaw sculpture was created in 2008 with a basic chainsaw. “Over the years I've added to my saw collection and seem to favor various models made by Stihl Chainsaw Company. I now own six saws and have found several other detail performing tools and always keep a look out for more. Tools are everything in terms of making the best carving in the least amount of time.” Andy likes to carve wildlife, Native Americans, and human figures holding bowls, perfect for bird seed or water. “Working with a median created by nature has taught me to be patient. Wood can look good from the outside, but can be full of surprises on the inside. I work with all types and only trees that naturally perished.” “I am honored to teach what I've learned through lots of practice, patience, and time. A day without learning is a boring day.” All skill levels from novice to advanced, in all areas of woodworking are represented in the club. Our club motto is "learning by sharing”. Come and join us, see what we are about and enjoy a cup of free hot coffee.
