Naper Settlement Research Associate Bryan Ogg will be giving a lecture, "It's Going to be a Bumpy Ride: Victorian Transportation & Pub Culture", at noon Sunday, Sept. 12, in the PreEmption House Tavern at Naper Settlement, 523 S. Webster St., Naperville. Sponsored jointly by the Greater Chicago Chapter of the Victorian Society of America (GCCVSA) and the Naperville Heritage Society, the event includes a lecture on transportation technology and the community of travel in the Victorian Era; a private tour
of the Martin Mitchell Mansion (built in 1883 by George Martin and known as Pinecraig); museum admission and luncheon hors d'oeuvres. Admission is $25 for GCCVSA members. The $30 admission for non-members of the GCCVSA includes the lecture, tour, museum admission and luncheon, and a 2011 membership in the Greater Chicago Chapter of the Victorian Society of America, as well as reduced admission to the remaining 2010 events.
