Event Description: Get ready to experience a magical three days, Nov. 3-5, during the Illinois Association of Museums Annual Conference to be held at the Holiday Inn Select, 1801 N. Naper Blvd., Naperville. The theme of the conference is “Exploring the Magic of Place” with spellbinding activities, wizardry-focused presentations and entertaining hocus pocus as we discuss topics of mutual interest in the museum field. Check the conference schedule for an overview of the event, including speakers, sessions and evening activities. Don’t miss keynote speaker, Karen Abbott, author of “Sin in the Second City” from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 4. Hear how the author researched and developed her New York Times best-selling book of a detailed and intimate portrait of Chicago’s world class bordello, the famed turn-of-the-century Everleigh Club, featuring local madams, ministers and playboys of the era. Books will be available for sale, and a book signing will follow the presentation. The author’s visit is presented in partnership with Anderson’s Bookshop in downtown Naperville. The public is welcome to join any of these events with the exception of the Thursday evening optional activities. Fees apply.
