Date: 10/22/2010 TO 10/23/2010 Time: 10:00 AM TO 2:00 PM 1050 Curtiss Street Downers Grove , IL 60516 Phone: 630-515-0230 Event Description: Downers Grove Friends of the Library to Hold Sixth Annual Travel Book and Cookbook Sale on Oct. 22-23 DOWNERS GROVE, IL, OCTOBER 7, 2010 – The Downers Grove Friends of the Library (FOL) will sponsor the Sixth Annual Travel Book and Cookbook Sale on Friday, October 22 and Saturday, October 23. This is one of the largest book sales in the area devoted a certain type of book. All titles are priced very affordably, with hardcovers at $2 each and paperbacks at 50 cents. The Travel and Cookbook Sale will occur on Friday, October 22 from 10 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Saturday, October 23 from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The book sale will take place in the Meeting Room at the Downers Grove Library, 1050 Curtiss Street. Donations of used travel books and cook books in good condition can be dropped off at the Downers Grove Library up to the day of the sale. Book pick-ups can also be arranged by calling Joni Hansen at (630) 969-5477 or Kevin Deany at (630) 515-0230. Cookbooks for sale this year include volumes devoted to Chinese, Irish, Italian, American, Country and Healthy Eating cooking. Many international countries are represented at the sale, as well as books on grilling, stir-fry, sauces, stews, soups, salads, desserts and bread baking. Travel books range from coffee table books devoted to National Parks to a large selection of guidebooks. Income earned from the book sale will be used to fund projects supported by the FOL, including prizes for the summer reading programs, holiday decorations, sponsorship of the Big Read program and miscellaneous equipment and needs not included in the Public Library budget. The Downers Grove Friends of the Library is a volunteer group that is known for its monthly Travel Slide Series and for helping the Downers Grove Library with projects that help make it one of the best libraries in the western suburbs.
