Event Description: Blacksmith “Hammer-In 2006” at John Deere Historic Site, Grand Detour Illinois (10 miles north of Dixon), Saturday August 5th and Sunday 6th, 2006. Open to the Public, both days 9AM to 5PM with an auction being held at 2PM on Saturday (the proceeds from the auction go toward education for blacksmithing). This event is expected to be one of the largest blacksmithing events of its kind, with demonstrating blacksmiths having hand-forged items and blacksmithing supplies for sale. This is an excellent opportunity to learn about the art of blacksmithing and what is being done today. There will also be woodwrights demonstrating both days. $3.00 per person, children 11 and under are free.
