Human Communications in the Small Business Work Place
Knowledge is power…and the more communications
knowledge you have, the more effective you will be in your business. Join
Norb Farnaus for a review of the key communication elements you need to be
successful in today’s business world. Review some of the classic English you
learned in school and find out “what they did not teach you in the classroom.”
Learn some of the communication shortcuts small business owners take and the
consequences of those actions. Get some good tips on writing more effective
emails as well as writing better letters. Find out the answer to the classic
question: “If a tree falls on an island and no person is present, is there
sound?” (Hint: the answer to this question will help you understand some
communication theory… specifically, where communication “meaning” resides.)
Norb Farnaus received his BA (English & Philosophy) from
Marquette University and his M.Ed (Counseling) from Loyola University. Upon
graduation, Norb worked in the high school and college settings for 25 years
teaching English and counseling high school, college and adult students. For
eight years he was a professor of Business Communication in the Institute for
Management at Illinois Benedictine College. Following this academic tenure he
served as the Vice President of the college. Upon leaving academia, Norb served
as the president of two small businesses for 12 years. He now coaches small and
medium sized organizations to grow and develop.
